Alaska Automobile Insurance

Alaska has required auto insurance coverage

Bodily Injury Insurance - split limit - 50000 per injured person  limit / 100000 per accident limit
Physical Damage Insurance - 25000 per accident

Liability coverage, the only coverage you are required to carry under Alaska law, provides you with protection from claims by others for damages that might arise out of an accident for which you are found to be legally responsible. This coverage is divided into Bodily Injury and Physical Damage.

You may want to consider the cost of medical treatment in your area before selecting you BIL limits. Does your community have a trauma center equipped to handle injuries that occur in auto accidents or are there likely to be transportation costs to reach the nearest facility? How many people might be injured in an accident with one other vehicle or with two other vehicles? What is the likelihood in your community of having a multiple car accident or striking a pedestrian?

The State of Alaska Motor Vehicle Division and the Department of Insurance both encourage you to get comparison quotes when making a car insurance purchase.
