Massachusetts Auto Insurance

Massachusetts has compulsory auto insurance

Massachusetts Compulsory Auto Insurance has four components and they must be purchased before you register your car:

Bodily Injury Insurance (BIL) - split limit - 20000 per injured person  limit / 40000 per accident limit
Personal Injury Protection (PIP) -  8000 per accident
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist - split limit - 20000 per injured person  limit / 40000 per accident limit
Property Damage Insurance - 5000 per accident

If you are financing or leasing a motor vehicle your lender or lesser may required you to purchase collision and comprehensive insurance  as well as increase limits on the compulsory portion of your Massachusetts Auto Policy.

Massachusetts Auto Insurance laws and regulations are some of the most complex and consumer unfriendly in the United States. When researching details we highly recommend you contact Division of Insurance or the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

The State of Massachusetts Registry of  Motor Vehicles and the Division of Insurance both encourage you to get comparison quotes when making a car insurance purchase.
