Missouri Auto Insurance


Any person who registers a motor vehicle in Missouri must have liability insurance.

 The minimum level of car insurance coverage required by Missouri state law is:  

Bodily Injury Insurance - split limit - 25000 per injured person  limit / 50000 per accident limit
Property Damage Insurance - 10000 per accident
Uninsured Motorist Insurance- split limit - 25000 per injured person  limit / 50000 per accident limit

The law also requires you to have uninsured motorist coverage of $25,000 for bodily injury per person and $50,000 for bodily injury per accident.

The State of Missouri does offer financial responsibility options to the purchase of auto insurance;

  1. You may post a surety bond of $60,000 with the Department of Revenue.
  2. You may make a cash deposit of $60,000 with the Department of Revenue

There is a self insurance option also available to those that own more than 25 motor vehicles
