Oklahoma Auto Insurance

Oklahoma requires the owner of a vehicle to purchase auto insurance.

Minimum car insurance limits in Oklahoma are as follows:

Bodily Injury Insurance - split limit - 25000 per injured person  limit / 50000 per accident limit
Property Damage Insurance - 25000 per accident

If you have borrowed money to purchase your auto, your bank or lender, under Oklahoma law may require you to purchase auto insurance to protect them against damage to the financed automobile.

There are two types car insurance coverage that the auto lender may require;

  1. Collision Coverage pays for any damage to your car resulting from your auto colliding another car or other object such as a tree, building, pole etc.
  2. Comprehensive Coverage pays for damage to your auto from almost all other losses other than collision. Covered losses under comprehensive coverage may include the following: theft, fire, vandalism, weather related losses such as hail, water (flood), falling objects, damage caused by a bird or animal, and glass breakage.
