The State of South Carolina has a mandatory auto insurance requirement 

 

The State of South Carolina law requires you to carry minimum limits of auto insurance as follows:

Bodily Injury Insurance - split limit - 25000 per injured person  limit / 50000 per accident limit
Property Damage Insurance - 25000 per accident

Higher limits are available and The State of South Carolina urges you to consider higher limits as they relate to your own personal circumstances as well Uninsured/Underinsured motorist coverage.
