Texas Auto Insurance

Texas law requires people who drive in Texas to be able prove financial responsibility.

Most drivers prove financial responsibility by buying automobile liability insurance. If this is way you choose you must have at least the minimum amount of liability coverage required by the state’s financial responsibility law.

The current minimum liability limits in Texas are
Bodily Injury Insurance - split limit - 25000 per injured person limit / 50000 per accident limit
Property Damage Insurance - 25000 per accident

Because of high car prices and the sky high and ever increasing cost of medical care, the minimum limits might not be enough if you are found at fault cause in an accident. Should your liability limits be unable  to fully cover for all of the other driver’s costs, you may be sued to collect the difference. To protect yourself and your family financially, the State of Texas urges you yo consider buying more than the basic limits.

A Texas automobile insurance policy usually meets the financial responsibility requirements of other U.S. states and Canada. Mexico, however, does not recognize U.S. auto liability policies.

The State of Texas Vehicle Title and Registration Division  and the Department of  Insurance both encourage you to get comparison quotes when making a car insurance purchase.
